The Annalee Authors -
Annalee Elementary School

Creative storytelling and empathy development go hand in hand in fostering emotional intelligence. Students at Annalee Elementary School in Carson, CA took on a dual creative challenge, learning filmmaking techniques while working in small groups of three to five to write original short stories centered around the theme of empathy. Through this unique project, students developed technical skills in video production and explored different perspectives and experiences through their collaborative stories, which were compiled into a book that helps build understanding and compassion for others in their community.

This film was created during a film workshop series with Young Moviemakers of America (YMA) during the spring 2025 semester.
