Student behavioral challenges often reflect deeper emotional needs and family circumstances. In this insightful documentary film created by students at Carnegie Middle School, young filmmakers examine this important topic through two compelling dramatic scenes that reveal how a student’s classroom disruptions stem from his need for attention while his mother works multiple jobs. Students explore how disruptive behavior can mask feelings of loneliness and anxiety that impact a child’s mental health. The film also shows students how they can seek help and access support resources available at their school.
This film was created during a film workshop series with Young Moviemakers of America (YMA) during the spring 2025 semester.
