No Room to Hate -
Portola and Sepulveda Middle Schools

Inclusion and acceptance form the foundation of strong school communities that celebrate diversity. In “No Room to Hate,” students from Portola and Sepulveda middle schools collaborated on an impactful initiative designed to help their entire school community embrace everyone regardless of differences. Through extensive research on topics addressing unjust and unfair treatment of others, students learned basic filmmaking techniques while writing and producing a powerful film that promotes understanding and equality. This meaningful project earned recognition with an award at the Making Movies That Matter Film Festival in 2025, demonstrating how student voices can create lasting change.

This film was created during a film workshop series with Young Moviemakers of America (YMA) during the spring 2025 semester.
