The History of Windsor Hills is a student-produced documentary that explores the rich history, cultural significance, and lasting legacy of one of Los Angeles’ most historic African American communities. Through interviews with longtime residents, community leaders, historians, and local business owners, students uncover the stories that have shaped Windsor Hills into the vibrant neighborhood it is today.

The documentary examines the community’s origins, its role in African American homeownership and leadership, and the people and events that continue to preserve its unique identity. By connecting the voices of past and present, students highlight the importance of community, heritage, and civic pride while demonstrating how local history can inspire future generations.

This film was created during a documentary filmmaking workshop with Young Moviemakers of America (YMA), where students learned to conduct professional interviews, explore the history of their community, and tell meaningful local stories through documentary filmmaking.
