Growing Through Music and STEAM is a student-produced documentary that showcases the vibrant learning experiences taking place at Grape Street Elementary School through its Music and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs. Through interviews with students, teachers, and program leaders, the film highlights how these innovative programs inspire creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Throughout the documentary, students explore how music and hands-on STEAM learning help them develop new skills, solve real-world problems, express themselves creatively, and prepare for future opportunities. By sharing personal stories and classroom experiences, the film celebrates the power of engaging educational programs to transform learning and empower young minds.
This film was created during a documentary filmmaking workshop with Young Moviemakers of America (YMA), where students learned to conduct professional interviews, develop storytelling skills, and produce a documentary that celebrates the unique learning experiences at their school.
